It is a common mistake to think that adding detail in planning will automatically produce more accurate planning data and will reduce risks. Sometimes the opposite might even be the case.

Assuming an employee has got a limited timeframe for planning, this will mean that less time is spent per record that is planned. If planning is done too detailed, it might degenerate into copying and pasting instead of thinking about the future development of a company’s key ratios.
